Apartment in Fulham
For this family’s London pied-à-terre, we wanted to create a classic yet eclectic style – mirrored in their love of modern patterning, antique motifs all set against a contemporary lifestyle. Both new design and furniture were selected with a space saving approach.
Unique Design Elements
For this gracefully appointed flat, we introduced texture and the subtlety of hidden storage, matte colors, and the highlighted the natural light of the apartment. The natural white and gray beauty of Carrara marble in the kitchen inspired the choices of geometric wallpapers, the hallway showcasing an oversized pattern. The custom bedrooms were decorated with more understated smaller scheme patterns, evoking a sense of sophisticated relaxation, as well as opulence with mirrored bedside tables.
As well, we added a large storage unit which was joined to the preexisting main shelving unit and used for storing linens, an iron desk, and files. This bespoke feature was painted to maintain colour consistency and balance.
Bringing the Design Together
Colour balance was key to creating a sense of consistency and interplay, and included neutral palettes, grey, and beige as well as walnut features and creative turquoise accents.
The owner’s lovely art pieces were hung throughout the space. As always, in addition to creating a personalised standout space expressing individuality and comfort, Krikla managed all deliveries, ensuring all furniture and fixtures fit through doorways and lifts and all 90 degree corners.
“Our flat in Fulham is our second home and we did not want to spend a fortune on furniture and interior design services. We also wished to move as quickly as possible – in fact, as soon as we received the key for the apartment. Our love for diverse style and our existing collection of furniture complicated the design and decision-making process. We also realized there was not enough storage space in the flat. We needed some professional advice to complete this puzzle.”
