Apartment in Westminster
For this refined flat, we imagined a space that was both contemporary and functional with elements of eclectic international style. Because we only had six weeks we decided to choose furniture with simple silhouettes, and tasteful linens and to work with standard neutral colours, adding black to create an interior appealing to people of all different tastes. As always, we took advantage of elements of the flat itself to bring the design together –including the ample natural light, and light coloured wood doors.
Notable Design Choices
With rental flats, we choose the limited pieces of furniture with care, making sure there is ample space for the potential renter to move around and yet happily imagine themselves living in the space.
Bringing the Design Together
For the bespoke flat for rent, we always must create a sense of warmth and home, and so the arrangement becomes an art in itself. To add character to this grey and black toned space, we added eclectic pieces from all over the world including South African grass wall plates on empty walls. A sense of sophistication was achieved by pairing bone inlaid bedside pedestal tables, and artfully arranged rustic wooden bowls. Pops of yellow and matte black added a layer of contemporary modern style. Mirrors and prints created a sense of thoughtful curation and warmth.
“Krikla beautifully transformed a rental flat from my property investment portfolio. My project was definitely a design challenge. I only had six weeks to put the flat on the market and I knew that having a standard look would mean my flat would not stand out among other rental properties in the same building”
